Topic: Overview of the Building and Training Process
Often prospects who have seen a presentation or even new USANA associates will ask questions like... Should I go door-to-door giving out flyers? What advertising should I invest in? I need more detail on how I would go about building this business. What type of training will I receive?

This brief overview below should answer the questions above and give a better understanding of what to do in the beginning and how it's recommended to start building your business.

Our objective is to enroll new USANA Associates and Preferred Customers. They start with a first order of product and usually re-order products each month which create sales volume translating into weekly commission checks for you.

Preferred Customers are free to enroll and just want to use the products. The best thing about enrolling USANA Associates is that they in turn will duplicate our efforts bringing in new USANA Associates & Customers themselves. Unless someone has a specific health issue that you are targeting, it's best to throw out a bigger net or a blanket approach of the products & business. We want to offer the gift of True Health & True Wealth as a package.

We have three primary methods of bringing on board USANA Associates / PC's:

1) Warm Market
Building a list of people that you would know or know you on a first name basis. The key is to use memory joggers (which we will teach you later) and to not pre-qualify anyone. We teach you a proven 2-3 minute approach that is non-threatening and simple. The down side is it's a sorting process but the upside is that it only takes a few motivated associates below you to create big business. We have excellent tools to use such as DVD's, audio, your own website, and magazines that you can handout making this process even easier. Your goal is just to get a commitment from someone that they will look at the info or set a live or webcast appointment. Then your sponsor or expert will take them through the education process of USANA and answering questions. You learn while you earn at the same time.

2) Cold Market
These are people you have never met prior to USANA. You connect with and meet for the first time with intentions of introducing them to USANA. Perhaps someone that you met at your child's soccer game or recent dance competition. Could be the waiter at a restaurant or a serviceman that comes to your house. The process for the approach is similar to #1 above.

3) Advertising
Advertisements designed with the business approach in newspapers, magazines, signage on your car, or the most common today is internet advertising. We partner with a company called Cutting Edge Media for an array of several online lead generation options. Advertising can be expensive and it's not recommended to do advertising until your USANA commission checks can pay for it.

It has been proven in statistics over and over that #1 method is the most successful! The reason for this is because there is a trust element involved. People that know you may not respect your business decisions, they do trust you as a person. It's this trust element that helps you get a commitment from those people to look at this and offer their honest opinion. Since there is no trust element with #2 and #3 it tends to be a much larger sorting process and requires much more effort. It's recommended to always keep your eyes and ears open for the #2 method, but not go out of your way just to dedicate specific hours on #2. Use #2 and #3 to add fuel to the fire, but use #1 to launch and create momentum.

Referrals from #1 method also proves to be a effective practice of getting new enrollments.

Your starter kit (Business Development System / BDS) will be your foundational training program. It will consist of appx three hours of DVD and audio CD training content. You will learn about the #1 method in more detail and exactly how to make effective approaches. Will teach you how to use tools and how to follow up. The most common objections with techniques on how to overcome them. You will learn how to use an expert person and use three-way calling with your expert regularly. You will be instructed to complete a Ten Step checklist for getting started right.

It will be your responsibility to get through this BDS as quickly as possible. Some new associates will be through this in their first couple days of receiving it. Once completed, you will be ready for a one hour game plan with your upline sponsor. This can be done over the phone or in person. During this game plan session you will both go through to check off each item on the Ten Step Checklist. This includes getting a goal worksheet filled out and signed by you. Your goals are very important to your sponsor/upline. Developing your WHY for doing this business is critical in the beginning and your sponsor needs to be part of the process to help you achieve that WHY/Goals. Ultimately, you also develop an immediate action plan together with your sponsor to launch your business. The specific activities that you with engage in together during your first 30 days to help you earn weekly checks.

After your first 60 days, you will be ready to go through a more detailed training system that builds upon the BDS.
