Campbell Patterson

Campbell Patterson had spent 5 long years of working as a Graphic Artist in New Zealand’s advertising industry, when he realised things had to change.

Months and years of 60 & 70 hour weeks had dragged by in front of a computer and Cam realised this wasn’t what he’d had in mind as a fulfilling career.  “I thought I was meant to be working hard and climbing the corporate ladder because I was still young,” says Cam, “I didn’t realise there was anything else I could do.”  When he stumbled across a book called "Rich Dad, Poor Dad", he discovered within its pages the concept of leverage.  Cam’s attitude towards income generation would never be the same again.

At first he focused on property investment in his quest for ‘escaping the rat race’.  He went to every property seminar he could find, and even went to entrepreneur boot camps that involved days of intensive learning.  Using the knowledge he gained he quickly began investing in properties and enjoyed success through astute, focused investment.

Finally Cam took the plunge and became ‘self-employed’.  “I felt that was what I’d been aiming for – I felt being my own boss as a property investor would mean freedom,” says Cam, “I couldn’t have been more mistaken!” he laughs.

Finding great deals, managing his portfolio and dealing with the day to day challenges of property maintenance meant Cam felt anything but free.  “From those experiences, I developed a very clear picture of what my ideal business would look like.  By learning the hard way, I came to understand the elements of a business that would really give me freedom.”  Just a few months later a friend called him about USANA Health Sciences.

“As I researched the company it was quite bizarre just how great a fit there was between USANA and the business model I’d had in my head as I’d struggled with self employment,” says Cam, “I loved it immediately but I had to work hard to get involved.”  Campbell overcame maxed out credit cards and non-existent savings to get started as an Independent USANA Associate – and he’s very glad he put in the effort to get his business up and running.  “It’s been an incredible journey!” says this 25 year old. “Looking back it’s been a lot of hard work and also a lot of fun.  I cranked through to Silver Director and Team Leader very quickly and have enjoyed so many benefits from the work I’ve put in.  I have to say though that this is just the beginning!”

Campbell was already passionate about health and fitness – being a very competitive basketball player and also enjoying the water sport of wakeboarding whenever he gets the chance.  “It’s about spreading the message of just how important health is,” says Cam, “so many people don’t value it until it’s gone.  It’s been great explaining some of these vital concepts to friends and family – and helping them to understand about health and also about creating wealth.  I’m finally really making a difference.”

It wasn’t until he really took advantage of the incredible training and support available from USANA and his team that Cam really understood what he could achieve with the company.  “There’s been far more value from coaching I’ve had from successful people in USANA than from the huge investments I’d already made in my education before I came across this company.  It’s been awesome!”

And words of advice for people doing their own research on USANA?  “I’d say just get in there and find out what you want to know.  Get the answers you need and get them quickly.  You’re in the right place at the right time – and I just wish I’d got started with USANA sooner!  If you’re looking to make a change then USANA really could be your vehicle – if you know how to work hard and you’re willing to learn, this could be just what you’ve been looking for.”
