Joshua & LaVon Davey

When they found USANA in January of 2006, Joshua Davey and his wife LaVon were working over 90 hours a week. “We were both consumed by the rat race!” laughs Joshua, “we were seriously looking for something with the potential to bring us financial security so we could do the things we really wanted to do”.

“I’d already invested in a lawn-mowing franchise,” says Josh, “I had realised that owning my own business was the only way I was going to create financial freedom – but running the lawns business was a steep learning curve in terms of how challenging business can be. It was a high capital investment and a huge amount of hard physical work with relatively low returns”. When he sold the lawn mowing franchise Josh needed to return to work as a building contractor and found, “it was okay money – but the hours I needed to put in meant no time with my family, and I couldn’t keep up that kind of physical work for too much longer.”

LaVon had been working hard at a major magazine distributor, climbing the corporate ladder from secretary through to Executive Assistant to the General Manager, “after 8 long years climbing the corporate ladder and enjoying the challenge, I realised I still wasn’t being paid what I was worth,” says LaVon.

“When our son Nathan arrived in July 2005 I was certain I wanted to stay home and raise him myself,” she smiles, “so we started looking hard for a way for me to be home and also create an income to help support our brand new family!”

And when Nathan reaced 6 months their answer came knocking, with USANA Health Sciences. “We had no experience with Network Marketing, no background in sales and no knowledge of health products!” says Josh, “but we could tell this company was extremely prestigious, that people were succeeding and we decided to really go for it.”

With a lot of hard work and the help of their upline, they reached Silver Director in just 3 months. Two weeks later they became STi Team Leaders.

“When we went Silver, people were amazed! They were congratulating us and asking us how we did it,” says LaVon, “all I could say was ‘we worked hard and we followed the proven system! It really was that simple.”

Already Josh and LaVon have an organization that spans 3 countries. Each of their immediate family members has their own USANA business, as well as many of their close friends. They encourage their team to dream big and take the action that can make their dreams happen.

LaVon says, “The support and coaching from our sponsors Chris and Helen Bolton-Jamieson has been phenomenal. The training and knowledge from those who have started at the exact same place and have become successful speaks for itself – this really is a viable business, and success can be yours if you put in the effort.”

Silver is only the ‘tip of the iceberg’ for Joshua and LaVon. Returning from International Convention in September 2006 LaVon has realised her goals are getting bigger and bigger! “USANA has been such a fantastic vehicle for us, we’re enjoying it so much – this really is just the beginning,” she says.
