Steve and Linda Burleson
|
It was
not long ago that Steve and Linda were on the financial treadmill.
Steve ran his construction business, which he had for eight years, and
was often working 80 hours a week to stay on schedule. Although it
could pay well, he knew that if he didn't always have a project lined up
after his current one, he would be out of work. Any time he wanted
to take a vacation, he was automatically taking a huge cut in pay for
the week. The economy could also drastically affect his business
and he was tired of the ups and downs of the industry. "If I
didn't work, I didn't get paid, so I was on a treadmill that wouldn't
stop. I knew that in 5 years I would be in the exact same spot if
I didn't change what I was doing." Linda
had risen up the governmental ladder and achieved an upper-level
management position with the Department of Justice. However, the
stress and the headaches of managing employees had begun to take its
toll. Although she had some level of security, the economy and
budget cuts meant that no one was safe and she did not want to have to
work until she was 65. She wanted to choose what she did with her
time. "I wanted to be more available for my family and had a
desire to get away from the stress of the government politics"
After
looking closely at the information he was given and doing some research
on the company, the pay plan, and the unique products, he talked with
Linda and they decided to work this new business venture and build the
type of lifestyle they had only dreamed about before.
"Frankly, after we looked at all the information, we were afraid to
not get involved. We didn't want this opportunity to pass us
by." Although
Steve and Linda were busy with their current situation, they made sure
to find time in their week to build their USANA business. "It
amazed us that 5 to 10 hours a week of consistent effort over our first
year could bring me a weekly check that equaled or surpassed the checks
that my 80 hour week in construction could bring." It was
shortly after a year that Steve decided to pursue USANA on a more
full-time basis, leaving his long hours from his other business behind
him. Steve and Linda now spend a lot of their time focusing on the success of their team members. This is where they receive a large amount of their satisfaction, knowing that every day they are helping someone else work toward achieving their dreams. |
