Dean is an Airline
Captain flying for a large international airline constantly
flying around the world and Mandy has a Nursing background.
They have lived in HKG for many years and relocated back to
NZ in 2005. They have 3 daughters who are also great
advocates of the products and very tolerant during the busy
stages of building the USANA family business.
Whilst living in HKG they began their USANA business. Things
developed for them with their business around the time that
SARS had just been discovered. They recall ‘living in a city
of 8 million people and seeing it come to a grinding halt in
a few weeks was very frightening’. The airline Dean works
for grounded the planes as people chose not to visit HKG at
that time, and the tourist industry was affected. They
started to realise that ‘it felt as though Dean's employer
held all the cards to our financial future and we realised
we have to do something about putting ourselves firmly in
control of our destiny’.
Dean actually went to a
business seminar in Australia where he met Fiona
Jamieson-Folland who
introduced the company to them. After getting back to HKG
and thinking "what have we done" they started by taking the
products and began noticing how great they felt. For Dean
the benefits were very noticeable. ‘We now know that the
timing that USANA shows up in your life is worth taking
seriously. For us it was also the same weekend that Dean's
father had a stroke, and it had us realise how precious
health is’.
They have built this business around the busy demands of
their family and also an international move back to NZ. They
have really appreciated the flexibility that they enjoy by
having their own business and also a structure that allows
them to benefit from the efforts of a team dynamic,
especially during times when they have other commitments.
They found that by following the system already in place,
including duplicating the flip chart presentation, this
helped their team to get up and running…no matter where they
are in the world. They appreciate the fabulous coaching and
encouragement from their upline Fiona Jamieson-Folland and
Chris Folland. ‘Our team both downline and crossline
continually inspire and motivate us. We love the fact that
this is a business where so many people want to help us to
succeed.’
They never thought that their business would have quite the
international focus that it does today, as they recall ‘we
don't think that we really "got it " when we first started
just over 2 years ago. Now we do and realise that the sky is
the limit when we dare to dream big enough!’
